83rd Annual Academy Awards: Who Wore What? 2011 Vanity Fair Oscars Party Part 1!!

A-List Bash Fashion:

Smoldering Blue Velvet: Tom Ford in his own design (of course)--Seriously: PERFECTION!!!

The 83rd Academy Awards wasn't the only "Red Carpet Game In Town" kids. Last night, of course, there were also the Parties! And the "Daddy" of all Oscar parties was the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscars bash held at Sunset Tower in West Hollywood. The fashions at these parties can sometimes be more entertaining than what you would have seen at the actual Academy Awards. Top actors, celebs, designers, agents and everyone A-List (who gets invited of course) vie for an invitation and when they get it, well, its time to don their finest. Some actresses did full-on gowns, some did cocktail...

Let's take a look at some who were A-List enough to be invited to the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscars Party and what they wore:

Kate Beckinsale: Kate looks AMAZING in this all-over sequined black gown featuring see-through chiffon sleeve insets. The black clutch and simple-yet-elegant diamond drop earrings finish off her look perfectly.

Emma Roberts: I love this dark silver-gray deep v-neck Jenny Packham gown with sleeves (a Red Carpet Trend kids) and "sunburst" paillette sequin detail.

Ginnifer Goodwin: Love the hair, love the dress, love the entire look! She is definitely "On Trend" with this black lace-and-red satin cocktail dress. She's kind of vibing "Young Hollywood Spanish Contessa". Chic and seemingly effortless; and perfect for a cocktail party.

Lourdes Leon: Remind me again, is she FOURTEEN years old? On a good note: I think Madonna's lovely daughter looks soooo pretty: Love the hair and flawless make-up. But... she looks 26!! And that sequined mini tank dress? And stacked pumps? Maybe the "Dressing Up Rules for Tweens" have changed and I somehow didn't get the "Uncle Nick: Catch Up!" memo, but...I sure hope fourteen year old girls all over the US don't start dressing like 26 year old women. Just sayin'

Speaking of 14 year olds! Hailee Steinfeld was one of the best dressed of the night in her Custom Marchesa tulle confection. The tea length dress was absolutely a perfect choice for this beautiful young actress and I LOVED that for the Vanity Fair party she traded her heels in for Red Converse Sneakers!! Now this is how I like my 14 year olds...the world is right!

Charlize Theron: Charlize looked so beautiful in this one-shoulder Atelier Versace gown. It was simple enough to almost be considered "Cocktail Party Appropriate" but yet elegant enough to be a Certified Red Carpet Stunner. The slicked hair, simple clutch and keep-it-light-on-the-jewelry look was modern. Bravo Miss Charlize!

Taylor Swift: Another "Fashion Homerun" goes to Taylor Swift. Perfect length, perfect color, on trend with the all-over sequins as well as the hair, make-up and open-toe gold shoes. Note to Miss Taylor: Keep It Up!!!

Emma Stone: Emma showed up to the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party wearing Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2009. Yep, you read right: Chanel Haute Couture!!! I liked this dress when I first saw it 2 years ago on the Runway and I still like it now. BTW: That's a $40,000+ dress darlings (if she were to actually have bought it). Chanel lent it to her for a Party and NOT an actual televised Award Show. It's official: the Red Carpet Dressing Game has DEFINITELY Changed!!!

Tom Ford Spring/Summer 2011 Runway Presentation-Video and Photos!

FORDmania...
Tom Ford and his Muses in Tom Ford Spring 2011

The first snippet from that exclusive Tom Ford Womenswear Spring 2011 Runway Presentation which he showed last September has hit the web presses---and of course, it's Fabulous! If you remember, the show--attended by the UBER fashion elite--featured models from...

Singer/Actress Super-Diva Beyonce (above), actress Julianne Moore, heiress and Couture Buyer Daphne Guinness, the one-and-only Lauren Hutton, as well as Supermodels Amber Valletta...

and Liya Kebede (above), to name a few. I'm surprised Liza Minelli wasn't asked! Tom Ford was very adamant about having ONE official photographer (Terry Richardson) not having any photos leak out until HE wanted them leaked. And now is the time for leakin'...

Photos have been appearing of the collection--as well as the actual show--via fashion magazines such as Vogue and V. One of my faves is the editorial shot by photographers Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, featuring model-of-the-moment Lara Stone from W Magazine (photo above).

Anyone Need A Cocktail? The Tom Ford "girls" ready for their luncheon date

In case you didn't know--or realize (I didn't!)--Tom Ford has TWENTY-ONE freestanding stores and stores-within-a-store spanning across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania (that's Australia-New Zealand-Papua New Guinea-Fiji-The Pacific Ocean Island Nations for you geographically-challenged). He's got stores in the "usual subjects" like NYC, Las Vegas, Dubai, Sao Paolo and Milan. But yet, he's even carried in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and even Uzbekistan---who knew? Those sketchy arms dealers need to look dapper too I guess!!!. Ford's first namesake ladies' items will go on sale in his Madison Avenue boutique March 1st. So better save your thousands now, darlings...

Man Fashion: Tom Ford Top 10 Rules of Style

Right after my earlier post on Giorgio Armani's top 10 Rules of Style. This time, is Tom Ford turn to open up his top 10 Rules of Style in December DETAILS magazine.

Let find out what Tom Ford got to say in his TOP 10 Rules of Styles.

1. I don’t believe in playing around much with suit cuts. I like a fairly classic shape that gives a man strong shoulders, a fitted waist, and long legs. Classic simplicity always works. (WOW! this is what I always believe in too!)

2. Someone who is secure enough to be very present when relating to another person is sexy. In other words, a good listener always lands who he wants. (Yeah! guys got to remember this golden rule.)

3. When mixing patterns, don’t think about it too much—just throw it together. (Believe me! instinct always works)

4. I hate the trend of short suit jackets. When a man’s butt is showing below the bottom of his jacket, I think it makes him look like a female flight attendant from the back—not my idea of sexy. (This is funny! Lucky me! :) I don't remember I have any short suit jackets! Opps...How about you?)

5. With jewelry, I actually like bracelets more than anything else, but they have to be small and simple. Cary Grant always wore a simple gold bracelet with his watch, and I think that was very chic. (How about rings? I do like those too! :))

6. If you’re careful not to overuse Botox, then yes, why shouldn’t you use it? A little bit of it between the brows can make you look less stern and more approachable. Who needs to frown, anyway? (This is absolutely right...)

7. Just like girls need to learn to be comfortable in heels before they go out in them for the first time, a man should try wearing a suit throughout a normal day. I do most things in a suit—and sometimes even in a tuxedo—and so I’m really comfortable in one. (Alright, I have passed this test few years back! How about you? )

8. When it comes to grooming, keep earwax out of the ears and keep stray hairs and flakes of skin in check and you should be good to go. In the morning, I put ice cubes on my eyes and use lots of Visine. (Oh! Good suggestion on ice cubes, Em...Can this be at night?)

9. Time and silence are the most luxurious things today. (More so with Time and silence together....)

10. There’s one indulgence every man should try in his lifetime: If you’re straight, sleep with a man at least once, and if you’re gay, don’t go through life without sleeping with a woman. Either way, you might be surprised at how natural it will feel if you can get past the mind-fuck of stereotypes. In the end, it’s just another person that you are relating to in a physical way. (This is No No for me!! :P )

Man Fashion: Tom Ford With Moore and Firth

Tom Ford is finally going public with his movie plans.

As I told you earlier in my blog, the fashion prince will make his directorial debut with a movie adaptation of Christopher Isherwood’s 1964 novel, A Single Man.

Colin Firth will star as a gay college professor who is dealing with the death of his longtime lover. Julianne Moore costars as a lifelong friend of the professor’s.

While early talk was Jamie Bell would play one of his students, it turns that role has gone to Matthew Goode.

The story takes place in 1962 in Los Angeles. Filming will begin in L.A. on Nov. 3.

Ford spoke publicly about wanting to get behind the camera when he left Gucci in 2004. He acquired movie right's to A Single Man about a year ago.

He also started his own men's fashion line last year with stores in New York, Las Vegas, Dubai, Los Angles and Moscow, among many others.

Men Fashion Designer: Tom Ford's Dream Come True

I am sure everyone know Tom Ford. Come on, just do a simple googling, you should get tons of Tom Ford bio if you don't really know him.

After this fashion designer left Gucci in 2004, he spoke publicly about wanting to get into directing. After so many years, he is finally going to see his dream come true.

The former Gucci fashion designer is putting the final touches on his directorial debut of the movie adaptation of Christopher Isherwood’s 1964 novel, A Single Man.

Sources revealed that it looks like Colin Firth will star as a gay college professor who deals with the sudden death of his lover. The character is helped in his efforts by a lifelong female friend and one of his students.

Firth’s rep reported that "he’s in discussions" but it’s not a done deal.

Julianne Moore will play the friend while Jamie Bell has signed for the student role. The story takes place in 1962 in Los Angeles.

No studio is attached to the project, but Ford plans to begin filming in L.A. in November.
